Le Souk (Syrian - Montclair, New Jersey)

Recently, I had the opportunity to visit Le Souk in Montclair, and it was truly spectacular! The ambiance walking inside felt very inviting, the staff was super welcoming, friendly, and accommodating, and the food was phenomenal!

I started my meal with their 'House Special Iced Tea,' a pomegranate tea with a blend of spices and herbs. You can also order this hot if you would like. This was quite refreshing and had lots of spice and seasoning. I found this interesting as I had not had a tea before that had spice and seasoning in it, but I enjoyed this drink!

I got the 'Baba Ghanoush' as an appetizer, which was a dip consisting of roasted eggplant, tahini, garlic, and pomegranate syrup served with pita chips. I was obsessed with this entire thing, as it was savory, tangy, and even smoky, which I loved the most about the 'Baba Ghanoush.' I do not think I have eaten a smoky dip before, but I was here for it! Plus, you cannot go wrong with pita chips because they complement this appetizer or mezze well.

For my entree, I had the 'Chicken Fatteh,' a stew served with garlic chicken, chickpeas, tahini, and yogurt topped with toasted pita bread. This stew was really flavorful and filling! Between the chicken, garlic, chickpeas, tahini, and yogurt, it was all chef's kiss. If you love a good stew, then you will love this dish!

To end my night at Le Souk, I had the 'Halvah,' for dessert. The 'Halvah' is a sesame-based sweet nougat, and let me tell you, this was sesame and sweetness galore! I loved anything sesame-flavored, so I was loving this! In addition, the dessert was light, which was perfect after eating a heavy meal.

At Le Souk, you can order anything from mezze, entrees, salads, sides, drinks, desserts, and more. Just as a heads up, a majority of the dishes contain pistachios, sesame, and nuts. Pickup, delivery, and catering are both offered here for customers. Now, Le Souk also offers to host events either in the restaurant, at your house, or anywhere you would like. Whatever the occasion is, they have got you covered, and more information is on their website. If you love Syrian food or are seeking to venture out and try something new, then you need to check out Le Souk in Montclair because this place is simply amazing!
