Konala (Bowls - Belleville, New Jersey)

Konala is a drive-thru bowls (or build-your-own-bowl) establishment that originated mostly in the Pacific Northwest. However, this past Friday, 7/31, they opened their first East Coast location in Belleville, New Jersey. I was invited to their soft opening last week for a sneak peek at their menu and to see what this place is all about!

The place feels really friendly and welcoming, and I love that it’s actually a drive-thru for healthy food. It’s convenient and good for you—honestly, that’s pretty genius if you ask me!

Color, vibrant, delicious, & filling = The Southwest Chicken Bowl

When I visited, I tried the ‘Southwest Chicken Bowl,’ and it was amazing. It came with dry-rub chicken, roasted corn, cotija cheese, red onion, and cilantro ranch. The flavors really stood out—I'd give it an 11 out of 10. The chicken was a bit spicy and well-seasoned, and the corn, cheese, onion, and ranch all worked perfectly together. I left feeling full, so these bowls are definitely filling.

On top of that, I also tried their ‘Strawberry Lemonade,’ which was pretty light and refreshing if you ask me. Overall, great beverage, and I loved it.
