Bongo Burrito in Seaford out on Long Island is a new Mexican restaurant that is vibrant with great energy and food, and is the new, hot place everyone needs to try. When I walked inside, the vibes here were awesome with the music bumping, colorful lights everywhere, and TVs playing with people sitting at the bar with their drinks, who would not enjoy this?! I came here with one of my friends who lives in the area, and we were both impressed with everything about this spot, as this was our first time coming.
To start everything off, we ordered the 'Fried Avocado,' which came with battered shrimp and roasted corn salsa in a Thai chili sauce drizzled with chipotle mayo. There were a lot of great flavors that complimented each other really well, as it was savory, tangy, and sweet with a kick. It was light, super tasty, and a great way to start the meal.
For my meal, I got the 'Spicy Gringo Burrito,' which had fried chicken cutlets, yellow rice with habanero bacon jam, and jalapeno bacon drizzled with their BONGO sauce. Let me tell you, when I ate this it made me want to yell BONGO in the restaurant because it was so good! I love bacon jam, and this hit the spot, especially with the chicken, rice, and of course, the BONGO sauce. The flavoring was similar to the 'Fried Avocado,' as it was savory, tangy, sweet, and spicy. This burrito definitely had spice and more kick to it for sure. I did wish the burrito had cheese on it, as I love cheese, especially on burritos. Regardless though, this was still excellent!
My friend had the 'Birria Tacos' and the 'Chicken Quesadillas.' I did not have the tacos, but they looked incredible and probably tasted beyond amazing, as almost all birria tacos do. However, I did try the quesadillas, and they were delectable. The tortilla was slightly crispy and tasted just right, the chicken and cheese were delicious, and there was a good ratio between both. For quesadillas, you can order chicken, cheese, birria, prime steak, or Mexican Street Shrimp, and they all come with pico de gallo and sour cream.
