Zest (Healthy - Fairfield, New Jersey)

After the holidays wrap up and the new year begins, it is always the perfect time to eat better and get on a health kick. I decided to check out Zest in Fairfield, New Jersey, to start mine. What I really liked about this place is that they offer a wide range of options that look delicious and tempting, yet are healthy and good for you. Plus, everything at Zest is gluten-free, so if you are a non-gluten eater, this place is perfect for you!

When I went, I ordered 'The 973,' a baked chicken cutlet sandwich with homemade pesto, white cheddar, roasted peppers, organic arugula, and truffle hot sauce on sourdough. This sandwich was incredibly flavorful and satisfying. 'The 973' is also gluten-free, dairy-free, and spicy. The pesto was awesome, and complemented the whole sandwich, especially with the chicken and sourdough. As for the truffle hot sauce, I didn't distinctly notice its flavor or spiciness, it may have blended in more subtly with the other ingredients.

I also tried their 'Kale Caesar Salad,' one of the popular menu items here. It had organic kale, homemade croutons, roasted chickpeas, homemade cashew parmesan cheese, and homemade Caesar dressing.  This is also gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegan. The salad was really good and tasted just like a traditional Caesar salad, but with a healthier twist! It was definitely crunchier than normal, especially the croutons and chickpeas.

In addition, I had to get a sweet treat here too, lol, and got their 'S'Mores Cookie.' The cookie had oat flour, organic coconut oil, applesauce, organic coconut sugar, marshmallows, chocolate chips, vanilla extract, baking soda, and Himalayan sea salt. It was amazing, as the cookie tasted light and had a great balance of sweet and salty, which was great! I definitely did not feel any guilt eating this, and the best part is that it is gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegan.
