R U Hungry is a fat sandwich shop located in New Brunswick and Newark, NJ. This joint is a huge phenomenon for fat sandwiches as they are a big food staple here in Jersey. I met up with a friend here for lunch a few years ago at their New Brunswick location and I was amazed by the food between how incredible everything tastes to the many sandwich combinations. I've eaten here before, and I knew when I started doing reviews that R U Hungry would be one of them!
When I came here the first time, I got the 'Fat Darrell Sandwich,' which has chicken fingers, mozzarella sticks, french fries, and marinara sauce. This sandwich has been nominated #1 in the Country by Maxim Magazine before and I could see why it's #1. It was delicious, and the combination of everything tasted like pure perfection.
When I came back recently, I ordered the 'Fat Knight Sandwich,' which cheesesteak, chicken fingers, mozzarella sticks, french fries, and marinara sauce. 'The Fat Knight' is R U Hungry's best-selling sandwich, and it was amazing I didn't cheesesteak could mesh so well with chicken fingers, mozzarella sticks, and fries, but I'm here to say they do!
Besides 'The Fat Knight,' I also got their 'Onion Rings,' as a side which comes with honey mustard and was good. On top of that, I saw on their menu they have something called the 'Black & White Shake,' which I knew I had to get. It's a chocolate and vanilla shake together with whipped cream, and it was the cherry on top of my meal (no pun intended as the shake came with a cherry too, lol).
Now if you ever browse through the menu here, you may notice how almost a majority of the sandwiches have cheesesteak, chicken fingers, mozzarella sticks, and fries in them. However, if you think about it, those are all components that make great fat sandwiches and are a necessity, so it makes sense!
Besides fat sandwiches, you can also order any of their veggie options here, salads, wraps, cheesesteaks, quesadillas, gyros, platters, burgers, wings, breakfast sandwiches (fat ones too!), bagels, muffins, dessert, shakes, and so much more. There is so much to choose from here where you want to order one of everything. All the sandwiches are a drunk food/hangover dream, even when you're sober too! Plus, R U Hungry also caters for any event or party you desire, so make sure to check them and their website out if you're considering them as an option. If you're looking for a good fat sandwich, you need to go to R U Hungry as soon as possible!
