Poke Crew (Poke - Closter, New Jersey)

A few days ago, I went to Poke Crew in Closter, where they invited me to try out some of their tasty menu items. Poke Crew is known for its poke bowls and teas, and I was excited as this was my first time eating a poke bowl. After eating some now, the best way to describe eating this is that it is like eating sushi, but in a bowl. It has the same ingredients practically, and there is something clean and refreshing about eating poke bowls.

When I went to Poke Crew, I had four of their signature bowls, 'The Crew,' 'The Double Dragon,' 'The Skuna Bay,' and 'The Sunshine.' 'The Crew' has tuna, tobiko, pineapple, jalapeno, scallion, roasted cashews, rice crackers, crispy shallots, teriyaki, and wasabi mayo. Overall, I liked this bowl as I loved the flavor combination of the sweetness between the pineapple, teriyaki, and mayo with the crunchy, salty, and savoriness of the cashews and shallots. I thought that was very well-balanced, and the ingredients complemented each other well.

'The Double Dragon' has salmon, tuna, tobiko, red cabbage, red onion, shiso, sesame, nori, chojang. To be honest, I did not really like this bowl. I am not saying that it was bad, but it is not something I enjoyed. There was too much salmon and tuna for my liking. Also, I found this to be very spicy, and the spice made it difficult for me to eat. Again, this is just my personal thoughts and preferences.

'The Skuna Bay' has salmon, ikura, seaweed salad, hijiki, edamame, pickled ginger, shiso, daikon sprouts, sesame, and wasabi yuzu. This bowl was pretty good and felt healthy, which is nice, especially since some of the stuff I eat is not always healthy, lol. I also liked the ikura and thought that it was cool.

'The Sunshine' was my personal favorite and that comes with crab salad, tobiko, avocado, cucumber, pomegranate, tamago, seaweed salad, scallion, pickled ginger, sesame, yuzu kosho mayo, and teriyaki. This was very tasty and I could not get enough of the crab! Also, the sauce combination between the mayo and teriyaki was excellent. Plus, I thought the avocado and pomegranate were nice touches.

Now the review does not stop here, as I also tried a few of Poke Crew's signature iced tea fusions. The first one was their 'Hibiscus & Cranberry Quince' one. This was very refreshing and a combination of hibiscus and cranberry which was delicious.

The next iced tea I had was their 'Jasmine & Honey Kumquat,' and that was very good. There was tons of jasmine and honey flavor here, and both teas had shaved components in the beverages. In this tea, the kumquat was shaved at the bottom which added more flavor, and the other tea had shaved quince in it.

Last but not least, I also tried their 'Taro Bubble Tea,' which might have been my favorite thing I had here. In my opinion, you cannot go wrong with a good bubble tea, and the taro was incredible. This was very creamy, refreshing, delicious, and hit the spot!

At Poke Crew, customers can order any of the signature bowls, make your own bowls, and signature iced tea fusions. Besides the Closter location, there is also a second spot located in Englewood. Pickup and delivery are both offered on takeout apps such as DoorDash, GrubHub, Uberats, Caviar, Seamless, and ChowNow. Make sure you also follow this place on their website and social media for all restaurant updates. If you love poke bowls or are looking to try one, you have to go to Poke Crew to grab one!
