Masalamex (Indian/Mexican Fusion - Westfield, New Jersey)

Ever wish you could eat both Indian and Mexican food at the same time? Well, now you can, because Masalamex in Westfield, New Jersey, can easily satisfy all your Indian and Mexican food cravings at once! The menu items here have a ton of variety with flavor that is packed to the gills! What is also cool about this place is that they are all about community and environmental friendliness.

When I went, I first tried the 'Butter Chicken Fusion Bowl,' which had rice, buttery gravy, spiced chicken tinga, black beans, lettuce, smoky elote, cashews, cooling raita (yogurt), cilantro menta, and creamy jalapeno. This bowl was a great fusion that represented the balance of both Indian and Mexican food well. It had a ton of flavor and was super filling. This is one of their more common and simple dishes here, and is great for people who want to get a good taste of what Masalamex is like.

On top of that, I also had their 'Samosa Chat,' which was a samosa crushed and smothered in spiced chickpeas, tangy chutneys, yogurt, and sev. This dish was very vibrant and colorful, which was why I liked it so much, as it had a lot going on. Especially with all the sauces, and I personally appreciate that because I am a HUGE sauce person, which was amazing! Also, ordering a samosa at an Indian restaurant is a necessity!!! At least for me!

In addition, I did try their 'Tandoori Chicken Taco' too. This came with tandoori chicken, pico, lettuce, cheese, and a tandoori-chipotle sauce. The taco was very tasty, and I love a good taco with chicken, cheese, and some type of sauce or condiment. The chicken was very smoky, and I thought the tandoori-chipotle was a good crossover of sweet, savory, tangy, and spicy.
