Finding top-tier sushi can be difficult for some but luckily I have the perfect place that all sushi lovers will enjoy and want to go back for more. My next review, Kenko Sushi in my hometown, Lincoln Park, NJ, is the best-of-the-best!! I can't rave enough about this place and how incredible the food, service and everything is. I've been coming here for years as this eatery is right down the street from my house and this joint never disappoints! You will always feel full and satisfied, that is a promise because there is not one time I haven't gone here and haven't felt fully content afterwards. Plus a little fun fact, Kenko Sushi has been named the 'Best Restaurant' in New Jersey by The Restaurant Guru, which is a restaurant-searching website, in 2019 and 2020 and one of the 'Top 100 Places To Eat' from Yelp back in 2017.
Now I usually order rolls like the California, Kani, and Crunchy rolls that all have crab and I also get the ones that are spicy and crunchy as well. The Shrimp Tempura, Sweet Potato, Lobster and Boston rolls are some of the other rolls I have previously gotten before too. However, I knew I had to go all out for guys to show how amazing this place actually is! The first roll pictured I ordered was the 'Lincoln Park' roll, I've had this before and it's one of my favorite sushi specialties from Kenko. It's a shrimp tempura roll with crab, spicy tuna, avocado with teriyaki sauce and a spicy mayo on top. It's simply nothing but incredible and is just an explosion of flavor in your mouth! The other roll I got was the 'Shrimp Dynamite' roll which is a California roll with shrimp, crab meat, masago, scallion, crunchies, teriyaki sauce, spicy mayo and wait for it...mozzarella cheese. Now I know that probably would skeeve a lot of people out or turn them off because cheese and sushi isn't a combo that would normally go hand-in-hand. But don't knock this until you try this though because the 'Shrimp Dynamite' is unbelievable and is nothing but dynamite to say the least! This was my first time having this but I will for sure be ordering this roll again in the future.
Now this is where the fun really begins with why Kenko is a five-star place and better than most sushi joints out there. When you order your sushi, your meal comes with either a soup or salad. On top of that, Kenko always give a special roll "on the house." With my order, they give me a "Blue Hill" roll which had spicy tuna with white fish salad, scallion, crunchies, teriyaki sauce and spicy mayo on top. It tastes like pure perfection and is just incredible, no better way to describe this. This place definitely gives you way more bang for your buck! And everything is really filling too.
When it comes to ordering, the amount of rolls to choose from, they are endless from crab, shrimp, tuna, eel, lobster, chicken, salmon, octopus, yellowtail, vegetable, specials and so many more, the list really never ends here! There's also some hot entrees to choose from as well including sushi, sashimi and tempura sets and boxes and refreshing teas from regular, bubble and iced.
Now due to COVID-19, in-person seating has been closed and ordering for takeout is the only option available to get your food. They're closed on Sundays and Mondays, but are open the rest of the week from noon to eight o'clock at night. However, ordering online is only accessible until seven o'clock so make sure you get your orders in beforehand! This place is no less than five stars, everything about Kenko is just out-of-this-world, you have to try for yourself to experience the amazingness Kenko has to offer!
