Searching for authentic Mexican food is like finding hidden treasure because it's so unbelievably good, but it can be a bit tricky to find the right place that has the excellent food you’re craving for. Well I've got a great restaurant you'll definitely want to try after reading this next review. The next place I'm going to is Curbside Mexican Grill in South Hempstead, New York. Now I've never been to Curbside in the past or really heard much of them, but the last time I was out on Long Island, my friends who live out there were raving to me about how incredible this place was. I had to jump on the opportunity while I could and it was by far one of the best food decisions I've ever made, lol. I'm not kidding that's how good the food here is.
What makes Curbside unique from other authentic Mexican eateries is that their food is original Mexican food with a twist. I wouldn’t say the twist is "fat-sandwich content related," but they do use some of those similar components in some of their menu items though. For instance, the menu is separated into North and South Curbs when you look on their website. The 'South Curb' consists of all traditional food you would normally find at a Mexican restaurant such as nachos, quesadillas, burritos, tacos, taco salad and empanadas. However, the 'North Curb' is the twist where the food items are still the same but their burritos are "fat" with food such as fried chicken, bacon, fries, mac and cheese, onion rings, etc. Some of the unordinary menu options are their avocado fries, breakfast quesadillas, 'Mac and Chorizo' tacos, 'Hawaiian Tacos', 'Curb Tacos' which are pretty much buffalo chicken tacos with blue cheese, 'Chicken Parm' empanadas and 'Mac and Cheese' empanadas.

When I went to Curbside, I saw they had birria tacos on the menu and I've been dying to try those out for awhile now. I originally came across birria tacos through most food pages on social media in the past few months and I've heard nothing but amazing things about these tacos. However, one of Curbside's specialty items is their 'Birria Crunchwrap,' the name instantly sold me and was what I ordered and all I have to say about that is it is...AMAZING...
UNBELIEVABLE...GAME CHANGING...PHENOMENAL! I'm serious that's good my food was. It doesn't get any better than the combination of birria tacos and a crunchwrap together. The 'Birria Crunchwrap' contains pulled beef, mozzarella cheese, guacamole, onions and cilantro wrapped up in a tortilla and comes with a side of creamy consommé. I had no idea what consommé was beforehand and had to look it up myself. Apparently consommé is a fancy word for broth that comes from meat juice and is mixed with egg whites. However, it tends to be more of a liquid and my consommé dipping sauce was more thick and condiment-like. But anyways the dipping sauce that came with my crunchwrap was really good and complimentary. The crunchwrap in general was creamy, meaty, cheesy, crunchy, you name it, all the good stuff you would expect and more. I've never eaten anything like this before and I mean that in all the best ways possible because that's how incredible this was. Eating this felt like pure heaven, if eating pure heaven was such a thing, lol. I could eat this crunchwrap for every meal for the rest of my life if I could! When I first opened up my food box, I instantly got excited and you know that means that food is going to be off-the-charts.
Besides Curbside's appetizers and main food, you can build your own bowls choosing from a variety of rice, beans, protein, cheese, sauces and toppings. There's also a number of sides you can order such as their chips and guac, fries, rice and beans, chicken fingers and fries, cheese roll-ups (which are taquitos) and side house and caesar salads too. They also have a kids menu, so there's something everyone can eat. Now I didn't order dessert, but I saw they have some awesome empanadas from 'Apple Pie', 'Oreo' to 'Cannoli and Chocolate Chip.' My only regret from going to Curbside was not ordering dessert because I'm drooling right now just writing about this as those dessert empanadas would've hit the spot!
Curbside offers in-person eating, takeout and delivery so there's a bunch of choices when it comes to where you want to eat. Overall, I was super impressed with everything and am honestly probably going to make a trip there every time I come out to Long Island now going forward. This place is definitely up there with the best-of-the-best. You have to go to Curbside if you haven't yet, you're missing out big time!
Rate: 10/10 (would give this place an 11 or higher if I could!!)
